Worship Exhortations
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. Psalms 95:1-6.
We are invited to come to worship the Lord before His presence. God, our Lord is great God. He is the Creator of the universe. We need to have the fear of the Lord while worshiping Him. The Lord our God created the eternal universe (the universe that has no limits and infinite). Man is trying to know the borders or the limits of the universe. They have developed sophisticated telescopes (such as Hubble Telescope) which can take the pictures of the deep space of 100 million light years. They found after 9 years that the universe is infinite or eternal. Our God has created such an eternal universe. Is He not worthy to receive all honour and praise? We should come on time to the House of God to worship the Lord. We need to have the fear of the Lord, which is very essential for our spiritual life. We tell so many excuses for coming late for the worship and for not coming to the worship also. I would like to share with all my experience that the fear of the Lord is very important for us. Let us come before the Lord with such a fear and bow down and kneel before the Lord our maker.
Table Exhortations
1 Corinthians 10: 16-17 – The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
The meaning of the Lord’s Table is given in these verses. We take part in one bread. We belong to one body – the body of Christ – the Church. While taking part in the Lord’s Table we convey that we belong to the Church, which is pure and holy. But are we the part of such a church which is received (caught up) by the Lord? Lord Jesus is the bridegroom of such a Church the Bride, as pure and clean.
We understand from in Genesis 2: 21-25 what kind of bride the church ought to be? Man (Adam) is called “iysh” and woman (eve) is called as “ishshaw” in Hebrew. Eve (woman, ishshaw) was in the same image of Adam (man, iysh). She looked exactly the same as Adam (man). God did not create the help meet for Adam from the dust (Genesis 2: 18). He could have created her from the dust. But He did not do that. The Lord made woman from the bone of Adam (Genesis 2:21-22). When the Lord brought her (woman) to Adam, he (Adam) said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh (Genesis 2:23). When Adam looked at her, He could see his image in her. They were one mentally, emotionally and in spirit. They were one body. There are many problems between husband and wife, because they are not one mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If one says, let us do something, the other wants to do something else. But the Bride (Church) for the Bridegroom (Christ) must be like Lord Jesus Christ. She must be one with Christ.
Galatians 4:9 – My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you – The Lord and the church is going through a travail (labour pain) until Christ is formed in the believers. The Galatian believers are aged but they are still little children in the Lord. The Church, the Bride of Christ must come in to the image of Lord Jesus Christ to be received by the Lord. Around the Table of the Lord, we must be of the “likeness” of Christ. In the Church, there are people who are prepared to meet the Lord and there will be people who will be left behind. Church has two parts – one representing wise virgins and other representing foolish virgins (Matthew 25: 1-13). Two shall be together, one shall be caught up and other shall be left behind (Matthew 24: 40-41). We need to have the fear of the Lord.
In Revelation 12: 2, we see a woman “being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered”. A red dragon was ready to swallow up the child as soon it was born. But, the man child, as soon as he was delivered was caught up to God and His throne. She also had other seed (the remnant) they were left behind. The red dragon made war with the remnant (seed). The man child that was caught up to God and His throne are the ones who overcame him (red dragon) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death (Revelation 12:11).
Before the Lord’s Table let us examine ourselves where we are failing in the light of these aspects. Are we represent Light Jesus Christ? Let us correct all things that are not right and take part in the Lord’s Table. Though we are many but we are one body because we take part in one bread.
“O LORD, our Lord, …. When I consider Your heavens , the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?”
